The journey will take them across the Andes mountains, through difficult winters, and charming little towns. Even their support crew will be in electric cars.

To make the journey even more of a challenge, they will be doing the entire trip on electric motorcycles. Long Way Up will take them from Tierra del Fuego in the southern tip of South America, through Central America, and up to Los Angeles, California. All the while they also do charity work and raise awareness for issues around the world. They are often camping in hard conditions, driving the bikes over rivers and crumbling roads, and enduring difficult weather. Anyone who has seen these series, or read the books, know the journey is difficult and they are not staying in luxury hotels. McGregor and Boorman have mentioned an interest in doing a Long Way Up in the past to travel up the Americas. It has been over ten years since Long Way Down premiered in 2007. Long Way Down took them from the UK and down Africa to Cape Town. Long Way Round took them from the UK, across Europe and Asia, and across North America to New York City. These two documentaries are centered around actor Ewan McGregor ( Star Wars, Moulin Rouge!, Fargo, Birds of Prey), and Charley Boorman (actor and motorcycle racer) riding on motorcycles around continents. Fans of adventure travel have likely already enjoyed Long Way Round and Long Way Down.
